Oh my....PIE

This pie definitely makes you say OH MY!  Since I am using recipes found in Taste of Home August/September 2010 this week it was only natural that I make a dessert that I found there.  I now know that I have found an easy "go to" recipe for potlucks and such.  My only recommended change for this recipe would be to make a graham cracker crust large enough for a 9x13 dish and cut the pieces into squares.  It is very rich and would be perfect served in smaller portions.

Strawberries & Cream Pie
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips, divided
3 tsp shortening, divided
1 graham cracker crust (or make own)
1 pkg cream cheese softened
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup sour cream
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 carton frozen whipped topping, thawed
2 cups fresh strawberries, halved
1/2 cup seedless (i used regular) strawberry jam

In a microwave, melt 3/4 cup chocolate chips and 2 tsp shortening; stir until smooth.  Brush over crust including sides.  Refrigerate until firm.
In a small bowl, beat the cream cheese, sugar, sour cream and vanilla until smooth.  Fold in whipped topping.  Spoon into crust.  Refrigerate for 1 hour.
Arrange strawberries over pie.  In a microwave, heat jam until melted; brush over the top.  Melt remaining chocolate chips and shortening; stir until smooth.  Drizzle over pie.  Refrigerate until chilled.

I, of course, didn't really follow the directions all the way.  Boy #2 was helping me and reading the instructions to me......and we put the melted jam on top of the whipped cream mixture and arranged the strawberries over that, then refrigerated.
It absolutely, positively, did not affect the taste.  Heck, you probably could have left it off for that matter....it's a keeper.

I'm linking up to Tasty Tuesday, and Tuesdays at the Table as there are some GREAT ideas for tasty treats over there!
