Friday Freezer Food Fiasco

Well, the menu plan again was disrupted.  Hubbie was off for most of the day on Friday so we decided to try another recipe in our search for the perfect thin and crispy crust. The recipe loosely followed can be found at Pizza Dough. I worked most of the day but when I came home, he had mixed up a concoction that really didn't follow the recipe, but smelled heavenly.  He did follow the ratios for water, sugar, yeast, and flour, but he also added olive oil and herbs to the mix!  We also inadvertently allowed the mixture to rise for at least 2 hours (maybe longer).

Our cooking process was to roll the dough as thin as possible and prebake in a 500 degree oven for 5-8 minutes.  After removing the shell from the oven we took it off the pan and allowed the shell to cool.  We then added the toppings to the underside of the prebaked shell so that the side closest to the stone during the first baking would also brown and crisp up.   Mmm....

The toppings on the above are simply stir fried vegetable mix sauteed in a frying pan until semi soft/crunchy, olive oil, and cheddar cheese.  The pizza was cooked for the second time in a 500 degree oven for 5 minutes.

The above pizza pie is a "Man" Pizza.  Every leftover meat in the frig went on this thing plus onions and monterey jack cheese.  I know strange, but the end result was an enormously flavorful pie. We did bake this a bit longer, approx 8-10 minutes as the toppings needed a little more time.

I am SO happy that Friday's Freezer Food ended in a Fiasco!
